Nouveau boîtier US en carbone moulé

Les Glide V3 sont équipées de notre nouveau boîtier US en carbone moulé, développé en interne par Takoon. Grâce à leur rigidité incomparable, ces nouveaux boitiers apportent une connexion au foil inégalée, une parfaite transmission des efforts et un feeling sans pareil.

Nos nouveaux box de foil sont fabriquées en carbone préimprégné, polymérisé à haute pression et haute température dans un moule en acier. Ce processus permet d’obtenir un boîtier avec des fibres longues de carbone bien compactés, ce qui le rend tout simplement indestructible et ultra rigide.

Grâce à cette construction, si l’on compare nos boitiers carbone aux boitiers classiques comme les Futures, le gain de rigidité et de robustesse est considérable. En effet, généralement fabriqués en plastique injecté chargé avec de la fibre de verre en fibres courtes, les boitiers classiques peuvent présenter de la déformation à l’effort. Sur l’eau, cela se ressent sous forme d’un temps de latence dans la réactivité du foil, que ce soit pour le pumping, pour carver, ou pour les manœuvres. Avec nos nouveaux boîtiers carbone, la transmission des efforts est instantanée et la connexion est ultra rigide.

Plus longs, ces nouveaux boitiers donnent beaucoup plus de liberté de placement de votre foil. Ils viennent en 2 tailles: 33 cm et 38 cm en fonction de la taille de la planche. Ils sont ainsi plus longs de 6 cm et 11 cm que les boîtiers futurs. Ainsi, vous pourrez affiner vos réglages, afin de trouver la position personnelle qui vous convient le plus.

Ils bénéficient aussi d’une double ouverture par rails pour un montage plus rapide : plus besoin de démonter entièrement vos boulons de la platine, il suffit simplement de desserrer les vis, de faire glisser le foil dans les ouvertures et de resserrer les vis et hop, le tour est joué.

Features

Shape

The Slate’s shape has been optimized to make paddling and surfing easier. We wanted a design that is both high-performing and accessible. Its outline is inspired by traditional surfboards, featuring a refined pin tail that turns the Slate into a true carving machine.

The volume distribution has been carefully designed to maximize glide, with the widest point positioned forward under the chest, exactly where buoyancy is most needed while paddling. The Slate’s beveled rails allow you to push your turns further while providing excellent rebound on touch-downs and optimal handling.

The Slate offers efficient and comfortable paddling thanks to a rocker line specifically designed for prone foiling. Its nose is rounded without being excessive, striking the perfect balance between paddling glide and reduced swing weight in flight. To further improve glide and make take-offs easier, the hull has been carefully refined to enhance water flow and reduce drag.

Tail

The Slate’s tail has been finely tuned to deliver the ideal balance of glide, maneuverability, and accessibility. This pin tail allows the Slate to retain enough length for comfortable paddling without compromising the board’s responsiveness. It also minimizes drag, making take-offs easier and more efficient without pushing water.

You’ll also find a release point in the rail bevel near the top of the foil box, allowing you to carve aggressively on your foil while minimizing the risk of touch-downs.

Rocker Line

The Slate features a progressive rocker line. In the nose area, a medium rocker provides excellent glide while helping prevent nose-dives. Through the center section, the rocker remains flatter to promote early lift-off, while heavily beveled rails improve water release and help the board flow naturally through turns.

At the tail, the rocker becomes more pronounced again, creating a skateboard-like feel underfoot. This allows for quicker water release, ensuring that once the board is flying, the tail stays clear of the water.

Construction

Partial Sandwich Construction: Our surf foil boards feature a partial sandwich construction with PVC reinforcement on the deck and dual paulownia stringers. This configuration compensates for the board’s thinner profile while maintaining excellent stiffness and control. The PVC provides superior compression resistance underfoot, while the wooden stringers create a strong connection between the rider and the foil. The result is a precise balance of lightweight performance, controlled flex, and long-term durability.

Mini nose protector included

Each board comes with a nose protection pad, which can be installed according to your preference. It helps protect the board during handling and when placed on the ground.

Molded carbon US boxes

The Slate features our molded carbon US boxes. Ultra-stiff and virtually indestructible, they provide an unmatched connection to the foil, delivering perfect power transfer and a unique riding feel. Manufactured from pre-preg carbon and molded under high pressure and high temperature, these boxes outperform traditional injected plastic systems.

The result: zero flex, instant responsiveness, and optimal performance for pumping, carving, and maneuvering.

EVA deck pad

3.5 mm: that's the thickness of the EVA deck pad on our Slate. Multi-piece and grooved, it provides enhanced grip and comfort while riding, while also improving water drainage across the deck.

Footstrap inserts

For riders who prefer to ride with straps, the Slate is equipped with X-pattern footstrap inserts. Our lightweight and comfortable Takoon neoprene footstraps, sold separately, provide excellent support and riding comfort.
